Setting the default input method to the Keyboard (factory default) and Character Recognizer is achieved by way of modifying the Pocket PC registry. When the device is reset the registry entry gets read and the respective input method is set. Transcriber and the Fitaly Keyboard from Textware Solutions cannot be set via this method. When you select the Transcriber option a small program, SIPTrans.exe, is copied from your devices Windows folder to the WindowsStartup folder. Input Tweaker then sets the input method immediately to the selected option. When the device is reset items in the WindowsStartup folder get executed first. When WindowsStartupSIPTrans.exe executes it sets the environment to Transcriber.

Similarly, when Fitaly is chosen and the Ok button selected, SIPFital.exe is copied from the Windows folder to the WindowsStartup folder. The Fitaly Keyboard is set. When the device is reset, SIPFital.exe executes from the WindowsStartup folder and sets the input method to the Fitaly Keyboard.

The Transcriber and Fitaly Keyboard options only work if your device has the Transcriber and Fitaly Keyboard properly installed. Input Tweaker attempts to check the registry to insure that Transcriber and / or the Fitaly Keyboard have been installed.

This program has been successfully tested on English Language Pocket PCs ONLY! For Non English Pocket PCs, the beta testing team has been able to simply copy the SIPTrans.exe and / or SIPFital.exe to their WindowsStartup folder equivalent and get the expected results without any problems.

This version has been tested with the Casio E-115, Compaq IPAQ, and HP Jornada Pocket PCs.

Installation:
Download InputTweakerSetup.exe and run it from the Windows Desktop. It will prompt you to install the Input Tweaker. It will install inputtwkr.exe in the WindowsStart MenuPrograms folder. SIPTrans.exe and SIPFital.exe will be installed in the Windows folder. Be sure to install Input Tweaker in the Default location. It only installs the 3 executables in the folders mentioned above in the 'How does it work?' section (Windows, WindowsStart MenuPrograms). Moving the executables to folders other than those specified will cause the program to fail.
