Nebopad is a tab-based and Finger friendly Text Editor for Microsoft Windows Mobile. NeboPad is a simple, but flexible text editor for Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. It started out as a desire to have a Notepad like program for the Pocket PC. But why stop there! NeboPad is a tab-based text editor that allows you to have multiple documents open at the same time.

This editor is very good, but be careful when using extended characters, such as accents. NeboPad will save your file in UTF-8 encoding, making it incompatible with other Windows-based editors, such as Word Mobile, etc. Likewise, if you open a text file created in Word or Notepad and it contains those characters, you won't see them in NeboPad.

I really like Nebopad, and have been looking for something like this for a long time, since all my writing is in plain text. The option of using the D-Pad to scroll and select files would make Nebopad perfect, at least for my needs. Right now I'm using the stylus, as my fingers are not quite small enough to avoid selecting the wrong file. Even so, the program is now the default editor on my Axim x51v, and I'd even uninstall Word Mobile, were it not in ROM! Nevertheless, I did encounter a very peculiar bug: If I use the Cut command on the tap & hold context menu, every occurrence of the text that was selected gets cut at the same time. For instance, if I highlight "the" and choose Cut from the context menu, absolutely all occurrences of "the" in the entire document disappear instantly. On the other hand, this does not happen if I use CTRL-X for the cut command, instead. Also, no matter where I am in a document, after pasting via the context menu, I suddenly find myself back at the top of the file and lose my place, whereas CTRL-V doesn't do that, so I assume the problems are somewhere in the context menu routines.
