Awesome little tool - indispensable if you're an IT guy/girl or anytime you need to check if something's up and don't have an internet connection handy (like if your network is down and you're trying to figure out why). It can also be used as a quick hostname to IP tool, as you can type a host name and the ping will show you the IP address associated with that name. It's at version 1.9 now, this here hasn't been updated in a while, check aDEO's site: http://adeo.hit.bg/software.html. aDEO also has a beta for 2.0 out. Also check his NetInfoBox app, very useful to find out stats about the network adapters on your device (WLAN and cellular network on my Samsung i760), including your current IP (for IP to IP type communications, e.g.), speeds, etc...

It sounds great if it can work on my device. I can't type anything in the box..Why? Do I do something wrong?

In response to your suggestions on the other forum: I was already off USB & on a well established WIFI connection during testing. The LAN, including WIFI, was built by me and is known functional and stable. Pingbox will, as you suggested, ping itself if the box is left empty, but doesn't seem to want to ping any IP address. I will do more testing and post back later.

I can confirm the behavior reported by Mortimer. It can't even ping itself by IP, nor the default gateway. Still good for testing internet connectivity, but this should probably be addressed to make it a more valuable network tool. :)

Ok, works with domains but does NOT work with IPs (like 192.168.2.1). Why not? May be a bug? Mort
