Windstation is a computer software which collects data METAR and TAF emitted by the airports as well as data SYNOP transmitted by the weather stations. From this information, the software knows time that it makes (wind, temperature, pressure…) and especially time that it will make in the 3 next hours.

The advantage is that it is almost real-time; indeed, the data are brought up to date all the 30 or 60 minutes. The disadvantage is that this information relates to a very restricted geographical area, and thus this information can be different (especially concerning the force of the wind) on the spots near the station. Then finally, for what is that used???

Personally, I make use of it more to see the general tendency of the curve of the wind that the wind really present. Moreover, at the end of a few times, I can extrapolate the furnished informations with the spots which relate to me. For example, for Almanarre, I know that the station of Hyères is very underestimated by the North-West, underestimated a little by West whereas for the Madrague, it is reliable by Is.

On the other hand, the announced forecasts they are highly reliable. With you thus to compare a little the furnished informations by the station and the real conditions on your spot fetish and with a little experiment, you will quietly make all your forecasts with the heat.
