» WiFiFoFum v2.2.12 Description
WiFiFoFum is the best WiFi scanner and war driving software for Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC and Smartphone editions.

This version makes use of the latest features of .NET CF to give you the highest performance for war driving. With this version you can be confident your GPS logged coordinates for the networks you find are highly accurate, and can rely on a smooth user interface experience.

There is a PC msi installer which will install WiFiFoFum and the Compact Framework 2.0 SP2 into your ActiveSync so you can install and uninstall from your device as you please. Alternatively you can use the CAB version (333 KB) of WiFiFoFum which you can install directly on your device, however you will need to make sure you also have CF 2.0 installed aswell. WM6 has CF 2.0 SP2 built in so it won't be installed again onto WM6 devices.

Features:
- List view showing information such was WEP, SSID, MAC, signal strength(RSSI), latitude, longitude and location precision (HDOP).
- Radar view conveys distance to access points.
- Save, load and merge XML files.
- Export to Google Earth (KLM), text, Wi-scan, Tom Tom POI, MemoryMap and Netstumbler (ns1) formats.
- Choose between Pocket PC 2003 toolbar or WM5 soft button look and feel.
- Aggressive scanning mode to find even more access points.
- New network found pop up blocker.
- Supports all wired and bluetooth GPS devices that use the NMEA protocol.
- Compatible with every WiFi card and Pocket PC device available (C-Guys SD card users need to use the NDIS compatible driver).
- Scan filters for WEP and ad hoc networks.

Update Description:
v2.2.12:
- Bug with saving GPS Baud fixed.
- Bug with turning off GPS and choosing different COM ports fixed.
- WiFiFoFum can now be purchased to remove the new splash screen, and MUST be purchased if to be used commercially. People who already donated need not purchase.

Works good but AiroMap(available on this site) is much more sensitive; just lacks the cool radar view but shows all needed info on one screen. Airomap picked up 3 networks versus WiFiFoFum showing one.

On my HTC Touch this is what I have to do: - Make sure the wireless is dissabled when accessing tools menu. - Go into tools/optons, select the list tab and turn off "Use WM5 soft buttons" - Under the scanner tab select aggressive scanning. - Restart wififofum v2-2-12

Using latest version on a Verizon Samsung SCH-i760 with Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro. I had this software since early 2007 and in my personal opinion, it is the best war driving tool available for a PPC/Smatrphone, comparable to NetStumbler on Windows. It's as precise and fast as its big brother and it leaves a very small (if any at all) fingerprint while scanning - basically, a normal person will never know you're scanning their network. It's a scanner, not a transmitter, so don't expect it to connect you to networks and do other fancy things. You can export your data in XML and use in other apps. The ability to skip ad-hoc and WEP enabled networks is a plus. As far as the correctness/accuracy of the scanned data, that really depends mostly on the the capabilities and sensitivity (and type of antenna, etc....) of the WLAN adapter installed in your device. I don't have GPS on my phone, so I never tested that feature. Overall, an excellent piece of software (confused about the low rating), that does exactly what it was intended for. It's been stable for me and does not crash. I just hope that the author is still working on this to keep up with all the new gadgets.....
